Calm In the eye of the noise
In a 6 minute installation, a symphony of sound, light and visuals come together within a captivating space. Intergrading on the sensory dimensions, amplifying the impact of impulse regulation.
How are we able to focus in this contemporary world with arousal and impulses all around? A theme that is very relevant after the social trauma we collectively experienced from covid. Veralinde noticed that she and the people around her were overwhelmed a lot more easily. She started to experiment with the feeling of being surrounded and inflatable objects.
On a daily base people are aroused by impulses, impulses you’re obligated to react on. Veralinde wanted to create a space where you don’t have to respond to these impulses but shape a space where you can experience with regulated impulses.
To evoke a linear easing, the installation will start with a translation to sounds of the city accompanied by geometric visuals. Which evolves into organic shapes and sounds. Inspired by the true beauty of nature’s form.
The installation is built up from 2 round shaped inflatables, with a white cloth fluidly draped around it.

BOX OF PANDORA
In collaboration with conservatory students, we created a symphony and installation based on the myth of the Box of Pandora.
Myth explained:
The gods gave a box to Pandora filled with terrible things and told her never to open it. After, they sent Pandora to marry Prometheus's brother, Epimetheus. However, Pandora could not contain her curiosity and opened the box, releasing sickness, sadness, and other afflictions into the world. Pandora tried to shut the lid, but it was too late. Only one thing remained inside, hope.
The myth was our starting point to build up the soundscape combined with the visuals. They emerge together in the space with a real box placed in the middle where visually is projected on.
